Are you safe at home?

The technology is now available for anyone to take a picture of their key and send it to a website called keysduplicated.com. They will then analyze the photo of your key and send you a perfect match to the key. No ID necessary, they'll send it to you for the low, low price of $6.

Now the issue that comes to mind when this topic comes up is, of course, security. Anyone can snap a picture of any key and immediately have it. You house key? Copied. You P.O. box key? Duplicated. That key to your lock? Mimicked. Your car? Stolen. Our society depends on security and the comfort it provides Americans every day. Security in our home as well as with our belongings.

The Keys Duplicated web site requires a valid credit card number, email address as well as mailing address before shipping out the key, but they don't verify it's your credit card or that it is your key. Not to mention that Keys Duplicated now has the ability to save and duplicate any key sent to it. What if they got hacked and anyone then had access to your key? Are we now going to have to treat our keys like we treat our credit cards and drivers licenses? It appears the answer is yes.
