A Swedish Evolution

In this rapidly changing world where everything is moving to technology, Sweden is quickly moving towards completely abolishing their paper currency and evolving to a completely digital society.  The country is working to persuade its citizens that digital payments are safer compared to carrying cash.  This is clearly something that has become popular among the younger generation who are comfortable with today’s ever changing technology, and Sweden is seeing vast changes where some banks no longer have ATMs and public transportation tickets can be paid for using mobile phones.  The circulation of cash is dropping quickly throughout Sweden and many businesses are moving to accepting only digital payments.

With Sweden at the lead it seems as though carrying cash is becoming a dying art.  With more and more sophisticated payments systems being developed each year it is interesting to think when we will reach this world without cash.  From dealing with privacy issues and cyber crimes to a world with a universal currency, it is very interesting to imagine where this path may take us.
