Inherent Trust From Runaway Posts

I also want to post regarding the many Facebook posts about keeping your status and posts private once a fee was paid. This raises not only the issues which were posted in a previous post however other issues as I view it from a different stance.

The issues I see at hand are how people can willingly share a post that originated from an arbitrary individual in which they had no connection to. I know I am skeptical of all information contained on the internet if the source is unknown or there are no solid facts to back it. I refer to this phenomena as inherent trust. Social media and the internet have caused the general population to believe that everything posted or published online has validity to it.

As many people our age are aware when Wikipedia was first released anyone and there brother could post and start sections of Wikipedia. At first it stayed serious and factual, however people started posting many false posts on it. These post caused students and other individuals to be blindly lead into thinking they were learning the material. A side effect of the lax measures to ensure valid and correct information caused many schools to ban students from citing Wikipedia as a source. Now Wikipedia has locked down on there measures to prevent false information from being posted to there sites.

The inherent trust that we instill in posts, forms, and website content I believe is to high to keep our virtual lives safe. Not only are our virtual lives in danger, our real earth grounded lives are also in danger since we now rely on web sites to learn and answer the many questions we have throughout a day.
