Last Week's post - Sprint - just a summary of what I talked about in class

So we already know that texting while driving has caused a ridiculous number of car accidents and deaths over the past ten or so years. As a result, mobile phone corporations are now required to pay money to car insurance companies for each mobile phone extension that they activate and maintain. Phone companies, such as Sprint, started to create applications that drivers could download and use while driving. The apps basically disable your phone and put it in "drive mode." Sprint already made the "drive first" app to encourage drivers to practice safe driving. Now Sprint is trying to create algorithms to disable incoming calls and texts. The goal is to decrease accidents and deaths because of mobile phones, which would in turn help companies like Sprint save money on car insurance. The problem is that the company has to make the program one hundred percent accurate, otherwise they could enter major law suits and feel responsible for any damage done if one call or texts slips through when it was promised not to. In time, I'm sure they will come up with a program that can do all that this one is trying, and there is a good chance it could be nationally implemented and installed in newer and techier car models.
