The Needlessness of a United States Terms of Service

Several months ago Edward Snowden leaked several US Documents which revealed that the National Security Agency (NSA) had been monitoring those who live in the country by reading the emails and listening to the private telephone conversations of many Americans. In light of these events many Americans learned about the existence, power, and technology of the NSA. Dan Brown’s “Digital Fortress” revealed that the NSA has a computer which can be used to decrypt encoded messages and detect any danger to the country.
Americans lived their lives without knowing that the National Security Agency is watching them. By knowing that they are being watched many would cease to use the services we find necessary today, such as the internet and cell phones. By creating a United States Term of Service those who want to cause trouble would know how to avoid the government's surveillance since the ToS would outline how the government does their sweeping and what they are looking for. This contract would also create trouble for regular citizens who accidently use the keywords that the ToS would define to be dangerous. An incident of the sort would cause Americans to diverge from their daily lives in order to go through the judicial process and prove that they are not a threat to the country.

The existence of agencies and programs such as the National Security Agencies, are just a few different ways the United States protects its citizens from harm. Some people worry that the government is reading their private conversations, but what they do not know is that most of the reading is done by a computer that filters the conversations while it looks for keywords that were deemed dangerous. In reality none of the conversations are actually read by a person unless some type of danger is actually detected from it. The agency is not interested in the drama or daily activities of regular American, they are worried about the dangerous that could be caused by an American who is unstable or compromised by an enemy, so unless someone has a plan to which would bring harm to the nation, they should not be worried about being monitored. With the absence of a United States Term of Service citizens do not have to go through the judicial process if one of their conversations has a keyword, since they did not sign a contract to avoid using these words.
